"I wonder if this year will be any more different." She thought.
".. nah, probably not." She carefully unbuttoned and took off her new Forever21 sweater, looked in the mirror.
"Still nothing.
Yep. This year won't be different." Slipped into her grey Abercrombie sweater that her mum had sent her for Christmas, brushed her hair and tied it up in two long pigtails.
As she opened her journal, she had noticed the words "REMEMBER! 2:30!"
"Eh? What the hell is this..?" Ignored and it started to write.
Dear Diary,
Remember these things for me.
- Summer's over. <- BOO. :( - Mum's still in Africa - Dad won't do crap - Oh and buy Kaitlin her birthday gift. Please and thanks! Everything is still the same as always.. boring. Actually, I'm glad it's boring. I kinda really hope it never changes. Oh, it's 8:15, time for school. xox Katie. ----------------------------------
Katie sat down at her desk, took her pencils out , and heard a scream.
"Alexandra", she thought. She was right.
A tall brunette with a purple backpack came running in, and started bragging about all the things she was wearing. Kaitlin walked in and shoved Alexandra on the backside.
Alexandra scoffed, continuing to talk to her friends.
"Anyway, forget those losers. Did you hear? We have a new student! Except she's not like any of "us". Remember that book we read? Different? She's like Hannah in that story!"
Kaitlin interrupted, "Yeah, uh, hello? We're right here." rolling her eyes.
And as usual, Katie just nodded and sat listening to Alexandra and Katie bicker.
A short blond girl came in, black backpack, white and pink flats, holding a pair of new sneakers everyone had rushed to the store to buy , with a checkerboard shoelace design, a light-purple jacket with fur, red plaid skirt, and wearing a dark purple pair of aviators, slammed the door open and closed.
"THESE SHOES WILL BE THE FRIGGING' DEATH OF ME."
Everyone stared as she tossed those new sneakers in the garbage, and strut out the room.
Almost everyone jumped out of their seats and dived into the empty garbage to grab those sneakers, everyone except Katie.
Katie just sat there and kept reading her book, "Do Not Disturb". She had read that book a thousand times, she would never get tired of reading it.
As the bell rang, a rush and scatter came to the hallways, everyone got settled as the teacher came in.
"Good morning class. I hope you had a great summer!"
Summertonne was a anti-homophobic school. Almost all the teachers were openly gay, including the vice principal. Mr.S was openly gay as well.
"Today we have a new student from our class, please come in, er-- what's your name again?"
The blonde girl walked in, with a smirk on her face.
"I don't have a name." she said.
Everyone stared at her like she was a crazy maniac.
"Oh. Well what did you register as then?"
"Hannah."
Everyone stared, and burst into laughter, remembering they read a book, that had the exact same personnel as "Hannah" in the story, "Different".
"Ah, would you like to give a short introduction about yourself, "Hannah"?"
"Nah.. not really." She calmly said.
Everyone stared. "Um, okay, since you KINDA don't really have a choice here, missus, please give .. even a made up introductory."
"Gee." She blankly said, took a breath, exhaled, and started.
"Kay, as you all know, I don't have a name. I don't have a story about not having a name, but you can call me Hannah. I just find that name really darling. Don't you?
I came from Toronto, Ontario, Canada. I moved because, it was really boring in my hometown, won some tickets, and my father left me. I live with my mum at the moment, and I--"
The fire alarm set off.
"Phew, saved by the bell." She quietly said.
Everybody rushed out the door and into the hallway.
"Hey Kate, don't you find something fishy about Hannah?" Kaitlin nudged, and gave a wink.
"Um. Is that a trick question?" Katie questioned.
Kaitlin giggled all the way into the hallway.
